Rutumbara, Subhasis win State schools chess titles

Rutumbara Bidhar and Subhasis Barik won the girls and boys titles respectively in the State Schools Chess Championship (U-17 Boys & Girls), which was organised by Bhubaneswar Schools Sports Association at Janakalyan High School, Chandikhole, Jajpur on Sept 19 and 20, 2015.

As many as 38 boys and 30 girls from eight districts participated in this 2-day tournament. Top five-finishers in each category qualified to represent Odisha in the National Under-17 Schools Chess Championship to be held later this year. Barchana MLA Amarm Prasad Satapathy handed over the prizes at the closing function.

1. Rutumbara Bidhar (6), 2. Sweta Senapati (5), 3. Anantyoya Chatterjee (4.5), 4. Biswarupa Chola (4.5), 5. Llyatmika Pattanayak (4.5).
BOYS: 1. Subhasis Barik (6), 2. Srinibas Mishra (5), 3. Pranab Kumar Patra (4.5), 4. Sajan Kumar Nayak (4.5), 5. Dipti Ranjan Nayak (4).
